Why Should You Listen to John? (In His Words…)
I have bought foreclosures, short sales and single family houses, by the dozens. I have done fix and flips, and bought properties directly from banks and other financial institutions. I have bought multi-family units by the hundreds. I have bought office buildings, a retail center, designed and created a successful restaurant, and have done several design and construction projects in the residential market.
I have negotiated with some of the richest men on the planet. My largest real estate deal was $14,000,000 and my smallest deal was $9,000. I once bought a deal for $3,500,000 and in 18 months turned it into $5,600,000. (I have done several deals like that). I have have had a line of credit approved over the phone for $1,700,000 in 45 minutes(and started to use the money the next day)! I have also had Donald Trump state in the New York Post that I was a real estate expert that you must meet! I have developed innovative investing techniques and systems that have perplexed the most savvy investors, leaving them saying “why didn’t I think of that?”
With my environmental company that I started, and later sold, I created $5,000,000 in gross revenues within the first year and a half(from scratch). Most of that coming in a $12,000,000 dollar deal that I did that year with a fortune 500 company when I was working by myself in boxer shorts above my garage. My competitors? Two other fortune 500 companies. I won because I out thought them. Period.
I have personally coached and consulted everyone from factory workers, to doctors to professional athletes. I have made over a million dollars in 3 different companies. I have also written three books, hosted a National Radio show on XM-Sirius, and have spoken in front of hundreds of thousands of people. My audiences have mostly been made up of people looking to learn from my experience. It is that experience that is your best teacher. But it’s not my successes, but my failures that you should consider why you should listen to me. I have become skilled at failing.
I have had to shut down companies. I have had to renegotiate with banks. I have had real estate foreclosed on. I have made mistakes in developing businesses. I have chosen bad business partners. I have let people down. I have sued and been sued. I have been ripped off by the hundreds of thousand of dollars. I have trusted in people that have had alternative motives. I have wasted money, a lot of money! I have spent money that I did not have. I let other people open my mail. I have made terrible decisions. I bought projects only to fail a short time later. I couldn’t pay people. People have not paid me. It is all of these failures that not only propel me to succeed, but make me a true champion!
I am qualified to work with you because I have walked through the battlefield and survived! I have studied and worked and read and dreamt and hustled. I am here, and not going away! I am ready, willing and able to help you go where ever you want to take your career during this crazy thing we call life! Through all of the success and failures, I have realized this:

About John
John is dedicated to helping others to achieve freedom through entrepreneurial spirit. Former National Radio Show Host of the Show Making Millions in Real Estate on XM Satellite Radio, his new national show on a station owned by Dessauer Media, Inc. is gaining a significant following. On his radio shows he talks about topics such as investing, simplicity, and being creative with business life.
He has authored two books on Real Estate and Wealth Building, Real Estate H2O( 2008 Dessauer Publishing, Inc.) and The Alchemy of Wealth (2009 Dessauer Publishing, Inc.) He is currently writing his third book, The Twist, which should be out in 2011. John has been featured in national publications such as New York Post, Los Angeles Times, and Success Magazine.
In 1991, John began his professional career in the environmental industry as a Field Chemist. He inspected military bases throughout the United States to identify hazardous waste, and devised plans to transport and dispose of the waste materials safely. Through tenacity and a strong work ethic, John transformed his field experience into a highly successful sales position and worked his way to the top of the ladder as a National Sales Representative.
Working too many hours in the corporate world led John to believe he was not utilizing his talents fully. In 2000, he quit his corporate sales position one morning and that afternoon he started up his own national environmental company, ICON Development Corporation. The company provides consulting, transportation and disposal services, recycling program for companies all over the United States. Working with small companies to Fortune 500 companies, John grew this company exponentially by capitalizing on his experience and knowledge in the industry. Within 14 months he exceeded $5 million in gross revenues! John sold the company to move to his next challenge.
Concurrent to starting up ICON Development Corporation, he inspired to create passive income. In 2000, John also founded a National Real Estate Investment and Property Management Firm. Through innovative and creative investing techniques that he developed, John turned this company into a million dollar business in just over a year. John has owned and managed several hundreds of pieces of real estate though out the Midwest and South Florida.(including multi-family units, office buildings, retail centers, single family homes and condominiums.)
After developing two multi-million dollar companies John embarked on his third successful company Dessauer Group – teaching real estate investing as your gateway to life freedoms. Through Dessauer Group, John has expanded his business to include delivering educational, inspirational and motivational products and presentations on investing and developing your freedoms. He has presented throughout the world and has shared the stage with such notables as John Childers – world renowned speaker, trainer and author, Robert T. Kiyosaki; Author of the Rich Dad, Poor Dad series. Not to mention the motivational side of the business which has enabled John to speak with notables as Suzy Orman, Former Mayor of New York, Rudy Giuliani, and the mogul himself Donald Trump! As a matter of fact, The Donald said in the New York Post that “John is a real estate expert you must meet!”
In addition to his entrepreneurial side John gives back. He currently sits on the Board of Directors for The Caring House Foundation. Its purpose is to build sustainable villages in third-world countries. The foundations focus over the past several years has been Haiti. The Caring House Foundation has built 16 sustainable villages there since its inception.
John’s current focus is creating and working within the private equity fund business to purchase and manage distressed real estate. He also is changing his brand with his company, Dessauer Group, to include more simplicity and minimalization as the keys to success, rather than just real estate. In his talks and lectures he gives around the country, he has coined the term, “Wealth has nothing to do with money, success has everything to do with failure and life is as simple as you want to make it.”
Oh, yeah, you want a crazy fact about John? He is ordained! He can legally marry, bury, and baptize. He believes that we are all children of the same Universe. “God believes in all religions!” He respects the spiritualism that all religion brings to humanity. John is married to Heather Dessauer and has two beautiful daughters Jordan and Payton.
John has a B.S. Biology and a B.A. Business Administration from St. Ambrose University, in Davenport, Iowa. Heather Dessauer, who graduated with high distinction from Indiana University(B.A.), plays an intricate part in their business’. John grew up just south of Chicago in Lansing, Illinois. Heather, grew up just outside of Chicago in Crown Point, Indiana. They are both planning on going back to school in the fall of 2011 to start work on their masters degrees.
